Chapter 1 - Getting Started As A New Stable You may have come across the Photo Finish web site from a search engine, or another site somewhere on the web, or from the suggestion by a friend. Once youve looked around and decided to join the game, what do you do? This chapter will explain how to get started in the game and where to find the various information youll need to play well. Registering on the Photo Finish Forum The Forum is where it all begins. This is the main communications center for the game, and the first place that your registration information is gathered. Simply go to the main Photo Finish page at www.pfsim.com and click on the Forum link on the left side of the page. When you arrive at the Forum page, you will see a welcome message at the top left of the screen. If you have not registered or logged in, you will be greeted as Guest. Once you have registered and logged in, your username will be displayed in place of Guest. To register on the Forum, simply click the Register button. You will see a screen with Forum rules. Click Accept to go to the next screen, where you type in your registration information. The following fields are required for access to the Forum and PF: Username, Password, E-mail address and Location. A valid email address is required for sending you vital information and contacting you when information is needed from you. If you change email addresses after you have signed up in the game, please let the racing steward know as soon as possible. Each player may only own ONE stable in the game. Please do not open mutiple accounts on the Forum or register for more than one stable. Any player found trying to do this will be deleted from the game. Sending Registration Information Once you have registered on the Forum, you need to send further information to the racing steward. If you email her she will send you a form with all the information you need to send in to complete the registration of your stable. If you wish to save time in processing, you can send an email with the following information: 1. Your real name (first & last) 2. Your stable name 3. Your email address 4. Your country and state/province of origin 5. The username you registered on the Forum with 6. Where you heard about Photo Finish 7. Your horse selections (see below) Please be specific with 6. If you found the site from a search engine, please give the search engine you used, and whether it was a search result or an ad. If you found the link on another site, please give the name or URL of that site. If you are under 13, make sure you have your parents permission to play and to give this information. Selecting Horses In addition to your registration information, you need to submit your horse selections. You receive two horses to begin the game. To choose which horses you want, go to the main PF web site at www.pfsim.com and click on the Studbook link on the left. This will take you to a search page to search the PF studbook. On the search page, select Owner from the search criteria dropdown, and to the right of the dropdown type in Endless Vista. Then click the Search button. You will be presented with a list of all the horses currently owned by Endless Vista Stud Farm. This is the pool of currently available horses in the game for new players. You may select two horses from this list, but only those whose Status is listed as Racer. Make note of the names and ID numbers of the two horses you want, and select two alternate horses in case your first two selections have already been taken by another new player. Include all four horses in your email in step 7 above. Please Note: If you are using AOL, you may have problems using the Studbook and other features of the web site. If you do experience problems, try using Internet Explorer or Firefox instead of the AOL web browser to access the site. If you still experience problems, mail the Racing Steward. Once the Steward receives your information, your stable will be set up in the game. When your stable is ready, you will receive an email letting you know. Attached to this email will be the ARs for your two horses. (See Ability reports in Chapter 2 for more details.) At this point you can log into your stable on the web site and manage your stable and horses.
